Destiny Planet View lets you explore its planets through Google Maps Street View

Mars Destiny
Bungie has launched a new website that allows you to explore the world of forthcoming shooter Destiny using Google Maps Street View technology.

Destiny promise to fuse the tight sci-fi FPS action gameplay of Halo (which Bungie, of course, created) with the open worlds, character progression, and multiplayer possibilities of an MMORPG.

This game is finally released next week, but Bungie has offered the chance to preview Destiny's rich lore using a familiar tool to many of us.

Destiny Planet View is a standalone website powered by Google technologies. It offers an animated, narrated introduction to Destiny's fiction - that of a future mankind in retreat from its former colonies throughout the Solar System.

You can click on Mars, Venus, or The Moon, which gives you a zoomed in view of the surface according to the game. Here you can click and drag about in true Google Maps Street View fashion, and click on points of interest for additional information, pictures, and videos concerning Destiny's world(s).

According to Activision, "While the experience only reveals a small slice of Destiny's massive worlds, users will be able step through each area and discover useful lore, gameplay tips and even a few hidden real-world and in-game incentives along the way."

Naturally, it's also possible to preorder the game from this website. Destiny will launch on September 9 for PS4Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
