Oppo N3 launching October 29

Oppo N3
The Oppo N3 smartphone will be unveiled on October 29, as a new image leak reveals a far more conventional design than before.

Oppo has sent out official invites to an "N3 Launch" event to be held on October 29. There are not details beyond that, but at least it makes the launch official.

Earlier in the week, an alleged image of the Oppo N3 leaked onto the internet. It made the Chinese manufacturer's forthcoming selfie-focused phone look a little odd, to say the least.

The design sported an unusual cylindrical camera unit on the top of the device, enabling it to be rotated around for selfie snaps. It looked a little suspect.

Now a new image has leaked, courtesy of soyacincau, that looks much more convincing. In fact, it looks rather like the Oppo N1, which the N3 will replace.

This time you get a squarer phone with a sizeably top-mounted camera, which still appears capable of rotating around on a hinge - just like the Oppo N1. We also see a twin-LED flash, but this time they're horizontally arranged.

The rest of the handset seems to be a unibody design with metal (or metal effect) buttons on the side.

Of course, there's every chance this is just another concept image, or perhaps a prototype design. But it certainly looks far more likely than the previous "leak."

The Oppo N1, which launched this time last year, came with a 5.9-inch 1080p display, a 1.7Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, and of course a 13-megapixel camera that could rotate 180 degrees. Expect a pretty high-end spec from the Oppo N3, then.
