Asus has announced the Asus EeeBook X205, a new model of its famous Eee netbook series.

As other companies introduce affordable Chromebooks, Asus has targeted the budget market with the €199 (approx £165) EeeBook X205.

Asus EeeBook X2015 Features
Launched during the Asus press conference, the EeeBook X205 comes with an 11.6-inch LED backlit display with a 1366 x 768p HD resolution. That is powered by an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor with 2GB of RAM.

Now, that might not sound like the best specs in the world, but you’ll get a lot more from the EeeBook X205 than you would have out of the 2007 netbooks at the time.

The EeeBook X205 is aimed at students and for that reason Asus has made it weigh less than 1kg. It has a 36 per cent larger touch pad than similar 11-inch laptops and still manages to cram in a full sized keyboard.

You’ll be able to pick it up in four colours – black, white, gold and red – and be able to eke out a max 12 hours of battery life.

It runs Windows 8.1 and you’ll get two USB ports, a card reader and an HDMI port.

Asus has bundled 500GB of cloud storage for two years with the EeeBook too. But you’ll get the choice of 32GB or 64GB of internal storage too.
